Great Fish Pics from 2008

Return to Table of Contents      Return to "Our Fishing"

Almost everyone who comes to the resort says that just being here is great and any fish they catch are an added plus.  Well, this page is for those "added pluses" that make the trip "Up North" even better.  All the pictures below were taken in 2008.

The year got off to a slow start, picture wise, but I'm finally getting some great pics to post here.  Fishing has been very good all season long but guests have been taking pictures with their digital cameras instead of having me take the pictures.  Just keep sending in those photos, folks, and I'll get them posted.

Week of July 27th

Craig Martinson has been coming to the resort with his family for six years now and every year, his daughter, seen below, gets her picture on this page.  This year was Craig's turn.  The bass on the left was 19" and the walleye on the right was 20".  Both were returned to swim some more.

So here is Ingred again. She always manages to hook more big fish than almost anyone else coming to the resort. And she catches them in the wrong place at the wrong time.  So it's mid-afternoon on a clear, hot day in July and she pulls in several small mouth bass out of 5' of water.

Early and mid-July

It's not that there were no fish caught during this period, it's that the fish caught didn't get their pictures taken or I haven't received them yet.  Actually, there were quite a few very nice crappie, bass and northern caught, especially for this time of the year.  The water was in the low 70* range and never got really warm like it does some year.

Week of June 28

Glen Engel has never fished Girl Lake before but he thinks he may be back again.  He and three other friends were here for the week and they were catching fish and having a good time.  Then, Glen hooked into this beauty. 28" and just a tad over 7 lbs.

The next time anyone sees this fish it will be mounted on a piece of driftwood and sitting in Glen's den.

Then, just to prove it wasn't an accident, he caught a 22" fish the next day.

Week of June 21

Randy and Barb Knight have been visiting the resort for several years now with Randy's Mom and sister and their kids.  Randy is one of the better and more successful bass fishermen I have come into the resort each year.

20 and 30 bass a day when no one else is catching much at all is not unusual for  him.  He fishes largemouth a lot but loves his smallmouth and this year, Woman Lake produced well for him.  This fish was 18 1/2 inches and was successfully released to get bigger.

Week of June 21

We've posted many pictures of the Ferenz family on this page over the years.  Brothers Steve and Rob along with sister Jeanie first came to the resort with their parents back in the 70's, I believe, and then started coming back about 7 or 8 years ago with Steve's daughter, Tammy.  This year, Tammy brought along her whole family and they all had a great week.

Tammy's husband, Brian, and son, Chase, are shown here with Brian's 25" walleye. They also caught another fish in the same size category.   Below (right) is Steve with a 26" walleye caught on Girl Lake.

Tammy is on the left below.  She is usually pictured kissing her fish but not this time.

Week of June 21, 2008

Last year at this time, I was posting pictures of Patti Sahr and her large mouth bass on this page.  This year, it's Patti's son, Steven, and husband, Jeff. These were just a sample of the many fish these guys caught over their week with us.  Steven actually caught the most bass and had the biggest until Dad brought in this beauty.  You know what they say, "if you're only going to catch one, make it a good one".
