General Information about
Pine Ridge Resort
Longville, Minnesota
|
 |
Pine Ridge Resort is
a family oriented fishing resort on Girl Lake near Longville in the Chippewa National Forest of northern
Minnesota. We are about 3 1/2 hours north of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan
area.
|
|
As a quiet, family fishing resort, we promote activities
involving families enjoying the natural beauty of Minnesota's northwoods together. |
|
The resort covers about
4 acres and has over 650' of lakeshore on Girl Lake. The shoreline is typical
northern Minnesota lake shoreline, rocky with sand bottom running along the lakeshore. Girl Lake is part of the
Woman Lake Chain of Lakes that includes Woman Lake, Girl Lake and Child Lake. The
Boy River begins to the west of the lakes and runs through the Woman Lake
Chain of Lakes before flowing into
Leech Lake. Click the lake name to see contour maps of both
Girl
Lake and Woman Lake.
The Woman Lake Chain of
Lakes is in Cass County of northern Minnesota. The Boy River begins
in Hackensack and flows right by Longville on the east end of the chain.
We are on the south end of the Chippewa National Forest.
|
 |
As
a family oriented fishing resort, our first priority is to promote activities for
people to be together with their families and friends in a quiet,
northwoods setting. And since we also happen to be located on one of the
better fishing chain of lakes in northern Minnesota, fishing is an
important part of what we do here. Families and fishing, great
Minnesota traditions.
At the resort, there are seven cabins scattered along the
lakeshore. Mature pine, maple and birch trees surround all the cabins and create a
special privacy for our guests who want to get away from the business of the cities.

|
| Pine Ridge Resort is on the south shore of Girl
Lake. The resort is built along a ridge line that rises gently about 20' above lake
level. Stairways have been located throughout the resort for easy access to the
docks. |
|
All of our docks have been rebuilt in the last
two years. There are four docks used for both boat docking and fishing.
Because of the location of the resort, the main shoreline
faces southeast, keeping those stronger, northwest winds from bouncing your outfit around. |
|
A family fishing resort wouldn't
be such without the fishing. Fishing off the docks is a favorite pass
time for guests of all ages. The younger kids are fascinated by the schools of
bluegill, perch, and jumbo shiner minnows that are around the docks all summer.
Northern pike patrol the weed edge within casting range of all the docks.
And Girl Lake, with all it's bays and shoreline, almost always offers a
quiet place to take the family where fish are sure to be found.
|
|
A large, carpeted swim platform is built along the edge
of the lake with a ladder for easy access to the water. Swimming, kayaking
and paddle boating take up hours of the kids time each day. The swim raft sits about 100' from shore in about 10' to 12' of
water. It is free of weeds around the dock and is a great place for the older kids
to jump and dive into the water. Fishing from the swim raft on those quieter days
can also be rewarding. Crappies often hide in the shadow of the dock.
Swimming, fishing and boating around, it's all here.
The fun does not end with the coming of cold
weather. Our "Sarajac" cabin is
open year-round for that quiet, winter get-away, cross country skiing, or our
fantastic northern Minnesota snowmobiling. Cass County has over 400 miles
of groomed snowmobile trails that you can access from in front of your cabin.
And don't forget, we are a family oriented fishing resort. So ice fishing is
available for those so inclined. Bring warm clothes.
