Winter Activities

or, What do you do when the water gets hard?

The first snow fall of each winter creates a true "wonderland" at Pine Ridge Resort.  Snow blanketing the evergreens gives a soft, quiet picture that no one wants to disturb.

The many levels the resort is built upon seem to be designed to show off winter's beauty.  From incredible sunrises across the frozen lake to  quiet walks around the grounds, one finds  postcard setting after postcard setting.

For the very hardy, there is ice fishing.  The last couple of years, one of our regular guests brings his Boy Scout Troup here each January for some ice fishing.  This particular trip never saw temperatures above zero, hence the fact that you can't see more of these guys than their eyeballs.

Of course, not everything is perfect.  Sometimes the snow doesn't fall when you want it to or the fish don't bite real well or there is too much activity around for a successful nap on the ice.  But, no matter, winter always provides a variety of things to do.

Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow!!!

When the snow falls, you will find that Pine Ridge Resort is in the middle of Cass County's 400 plus miles of groomed state-aid snowmobile trails.  Access to the trails is just 1/2 mile across Girl Lake from the resort.

And in the middle of Pine Ridge Resort is our large, three bedroom cabin that we keep open throughout the year.  Located only 10' away from the shore of Girl Lake, it is a perfect place to enjoy all that a Minnesota northwoods winter has to offer.  Park your snowmobile right in front of the cabin after a days ride and relax in front of the warm, fieldstone fireplace.

Cross country ski trails are only minutes away from the resort.  Snowshoeing along the North County Trail through the Chippewa National Forest is a pure delight. And it's all just minutes away from the warm comfort of a northwoods cabin.
